Fabric Composition and Suitability

Fabrics suitable for Whisper Walls systems include compositions of polyester, cotton, felt-wool, polyethylene, and polypropylene.

Textiles with a high content of rayon, viscose, or nylon must never be used in stretch fabric installations. These fibres are hydrophilic in nature — they readily absorb atmospheric moisture, which can lead to sagging and rippling that will not self-correct once humidity levels stabilise.

Very lightweight or light-coloured fabrics may allow the mounting systems or acoustic cores to be slightly visible. In such cases, a lining or suitable backing can be applied.

Whisper Walls systems are designed for long-term performance and allow easy replacement of textile coverings — ideal when damage occurs or when refurbishment is planned.

The maximum design dimensions of panels depend on the available fabric roll lengths and widths. Where the selected fabric is not wide enough, panels can be ‘hairline’ joined using Whisper Walls Mid-Wall polymer sections.

Selecting the correct fabric is one of the key design decisions in any stretch fabric wall or ceiling system. We recommend early consultation with our technical team during project planning to identify suitable fabrics for wall or ceiling applications.

Extra-Wide Fabric – Optimum Engineered (O.E.) Panels

Optimum Engineered (O.E.) Panels are designed for large spaces such as sports halls, educational facilities, and public venues.

These panels utilise extra-wide fabrics of up to 2.9 metres wide and approximately 30 metres long, which reduce material usage and installation time — resulting in reduced overall project costs and a seamless visual appearance.

Polyethylene Textiles – High-Moisture Environments

Durable polyethylene textiles are available in a wide range of colours and textures.

They are ideal for high-moisture environments including swimming pools, learner pools, and splash parks, offering long-term resistance to humidity and condensation

Leather & Suede Finishes

Whisper Walls also offers premium Italian full-grain leather, perforated acoustic leather, and suede finishes.

These materials combine acoustic performance with luxurious aesthetics, making them ideal for executive spaces, hospitality interiors, and high-end architectural projects.

White Panels

White acoustic panels are available up to 2.9 metres wide and approximately 30 metres long, with no joins, utilising standard depth systems.

A 12mm non-acoustic option is also available, perfect for concealing unsightly surfaces where noise control is not required. These panels allow for a clean, fast, and refined installation.

Digitally Printed Fabrics

Create a visually distinctive and customised acoustic surface with digitally printed textiles.

Images, logos, graphics, and artwork can be printed up to 2.8 metres high, extending the full length of a wall in landscape or panoramic formats.

This approach combines creative visual design with high acoustic performance, ideal for feature walls, branded environments, or artistic installations.

Timber Fin/Slatted Acoustic Panels – Whisper Walls® Acoustic Zone

The Whisper Walls® Acoustic Zone can be designed to incorporate finished hardwood timber fin or slatted panel installations, offering a premium and elegant acoustic solution that introduces natural materials and refined detailing into architectural spaces.

While Ace Acoustics does not supply or install the hardwood components, the Whisper Walls® framework of any shape, can be engineered to receive and accommodate a wide range of timber fin or slat systems supplied by others.

Designers may specify any configuration or dimensional layout, with the flexibility to coordinate the timber finishes with any colour from the Whisper Walls fabric range colour palette for cohesive visual integration.

This approach allows architects to combine the warmth and texture of hardwood with the acoustic performance and versatility of the Whisper Walls® system — ideal for boardrooms, auditoria, educational facilities, and high-end interior spaces.

Complementary Finishes

Whisper Walls systems integrate seamlessly with a range of complementary materials such as metal, timber, stonework, concrete, glass, and mirror.

These finishes work harmoniously with acoustic fabric panels to achieve a balanced architectural and acoustic design.
